The original painting and the final pin created from it, were presented to HRH Princess Anne on her visit with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment for their Colours, April, 2010.
Commissioned by Mr. Rob Shea (Assistant Professor & Editor for Memorial University), to honour the brave Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who fought and died on land, on sea, and in the air in both World Wars.
The bravery of these men is both epic and tragic, and in 1917 the Forget-Me-Not was adopted as a commemorative symbol in the then nation of Newfoundland to recognize the efforts of these heroes.
This pin pays tribute to those men and women who have served and continue to serve and participate in peacekeeping missions today, and who have paid the supreme sacrifice.
